Poxy · Last updated 24 August 2026 (rev. 3)
The short version. Your browsing history, bookmarks and open tabs stay on your phone. We do not upload them, and we could not show them to you on another device even if you asked. The server that carries your browsing sees which websites you connect to — it must, in order to reach them — but not the pages themselves, and those records are kept briefly and only to handle abuse.

1. Who we are

Poxy is an Android web browser that routes the traffic of this app through a proxy server in a country you choose. It is not a VPN: other apps on your phone are unaffected.

2. What stays on your device

The following never leaves your phone unless you deliberately export or share it:

You can erase all of it at any time in Settings → Clear browsing data, or have it erased automatically with Clear everything on exit. Private tabs are never written to disk and are destroyed when the last one closes.

3. What our servers receive

DataWhyKept for
A random device identifier To issue you proxy credentials and apply your plan limits. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID. Until you uninstall
The country you select To choose a server Duration of the session
Total bytes transferred To enforce data allowances Rolling total
Diagnostics: whether a proxy connection succeeded or failed and the class of failure, the country requested, your device model, Android version and app version To know whether the app is actually working, and on which devices it is not. It contains nothing about what you browsed. Counts only, kept indefinitely in aggregate
Crash reports: the error type and stack trace, with device and app version To find and fix crashes. Sent by the app after it restarts, never while you are browsing. Anything resembling a web address is stripped before it is sent. 14 days
Connection records on the proxy: time, your network address, the destination address and port, bytes moved Required to operate the service and to respond to abuse complaints from our hosting provider 7 days, then deleted

4. What we deliberately do not collect

5. Advertising

The app shows occasional ads supplied by Google AdMob, which fund the free plan. Watching one adds data to your allowance.

Google AdMob receives, under its own privacy policy:

Ads are not sent through the proxy, on purpose. If they were, every advert would appear to come from our datacenter in the country you chose, which ad networks treat as fraud and which would spend your data allowance on advertising. So the ads component uses your normal internet connection, and Google therefore sees your real IP address for ad requests — not the proxy's.

Your browsing is unaffected: pages you visit still go through the proxy you selected. Only the ad itself does not.

We receive no personal data from AdMob. When you complete an ad, Google tells our server only that a reward is due for an anonymous device identifier, and we add data to that device's allowance.

6. An honest limitation

A proxy has to know which server to connect you to, so the proxy server necessarily sees the hostname of every site you reach. Any provider claiming otherwise is describing something a proxy cannot do. What we control is how little we keep and for how long: connection records are retained for seven days solely to answer abuse reports, and are not used to build a profile of you.

This app also does not make you anonymous. If you sign in to a website, that website knows who you are regardless of where your connection appears to come from.

7. Who else is involved

We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone else. We would disclose information only where legally compelled, and we can only disclose what we hold — which, for browsing content, is nothing.

8. Children

This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. Your rights

Because we hold no account and no identifying information, the practical way to exercise your rights is direct: clearing browsing data in Settings erases everything local, and uninstalling the app ends the device identifier's use. If you are in the EU, UK or another region with data protection law and wish to make a formal request, contact us below and we will explain exactly what, if anything, is associated with your device.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change in the app's release notes.
